Abstract: A multi-year PW-CETAL research plan is proposed, blending “in-house” basic and applied research, with ELI-NP synergistic research. The proposed research strategy is to focus on new scientific directions with high impact and funding potential. The following directions are proposed: (I) Development of coherent X-ray source for phase-contrast medical imaging. (II) Photon-matter interactions of extreme helical light. (III) Novel instrumentation and diagnostics for high intensity laser research. (IV) Biological effects of ultrahigh dose rate nuclear beams. The proposed research will combine resources available at CETAL-PW, ELI-NP and IFIN-HH. The above directions will be described in a few talks, with the first presenting the overall research strategy and the coherent X-ray source direction.
