The invention relates to an electronic circuit for automatic control of a plasma jet generator operation. According to the invention, the circuit comprises a photo-electric sensor (15) with maximum sensibility in the infrared range of the electromagnetic field, which detects the optical radiation (14) emitted by the plasma jet (13) of a plasma generator which is power-supplied from a direct-current voltage source (1) and from a generator of very high voltage pulses (2), the operation of which is controlled by a control block (16) comprising an amplifying module (17) which amplifies the output voltage of the photo-electric sensor (15), a comparator (18) which compares the input voltage value with a preset threshold value, and a delay switch module (19) which provides control voltage for the generator of very high voltage pulses.
